Product/Design : Landlord-Tenant Legal Information Kiosk
What Problem Does It Solve?: Many tenants provide answers to the Clerk of the Housing Court without fully understanding the significance of these answers.
How Does It Do That?: The kiosk will help tenants understand the issues and decide what they should say to the Clerk.
Why Is It Different? : Current assistance for tenants is provided by volunteers and is limited in various ways. A kiosk can help tenants go through the issues at their own pace and feel better prepared when they give answers that can affect the outcome of their case.
Who Will Use It? : Pro setenants in the process of filing their answer before the Housing Court.
Other Potential Uses : The design could be used in other contexts in which parties in legal proceedings appear pro se.
More Detailed Description : The Tenant Kiosk system is currently being designed by students at New York Law School.
Lead Designer : David R. Johnson
