Title of Entry: Goddess Island in Second Life Pictorial Representation: Goddess Island Movie (Flash Attachment) OR HERE: http://www.ad-maven.com/sop/goddess.swf LOCATION & Description of Goddess Island as a Public Space: Goddess Island Sim, located in Second Life, (112,124) was a popular sim that catered to residential rentals before its new owner, MarmelaGramela Doesburg, took it over mid September 2005. Artist/Custom Builder, Theresa Johnson, aka Tessa Harrington in Second Life, was contracted on September 12, 2005 to design a sim concept and execute that plan upon approval of sim owner. Goddess Island's vision is to make the usual Second Life experiences - shopping, events, games and socializing, unique by providing an atmosphere that begs users to come back for more, and even make it their home. Instead of creating a massive impersonal mall area, Goddess is composed of individually unique vendor shops, each with a decidedly European feeling. Perched on a cliff side and surrounded by water paths, the central area pulls people in to explore and experience the warmth of the environment. Int he valley of the cliff an ancient amphitheater sits ready for community meetings and social events, such as virtual trivial pursuit, auctions, and just hanging out. A newly built park area located in one of the far corners of the island was created to allow for high lag events, such as dances and Slingo to be enjoyed. When not in use as an event area the park will be a haven for the romantically minded lovers of Second Life, with discretely scattered animated couple poses set about the park for visitors and residents a like to show their affections for one another. Come and experience Goddess Island, as it continues to evolve and grow. But, be forewarned, you might not want to leave once you surrender to its vistas. Theresa Johnson |
