| There Buggy Museum The There Buggy Museum was established back in November of 2003 when I found out that the buggy vehicle found in world had a much more colorful history than the thousands of copies found in world of the identical design. Reading into the history of this fascinated me and I wanted to share this diverse past, present, and future timeline with the populace of There. It has stayed in near constant operation ever since it’s opening, and has grown not only exhibit numbers from 4 to 7, but also in enrichment of history as more tales unfold. This benefited the community in many ways from the beginning. It made people look at the history in design and implementation of vehicle design, but also bugs and foul up along the way that would only remain in a persistent online world such as There. It also offered a significant change from a real world museum in that you could interact with the exhibits taking them for test-drives, something that would not be possible to the general admission of people in real vehicular museum. Although with time it was apparent not everyone would conform to the honor system of “local test drives only” and would often run off with exhibits, this gave move to the weekly “Test Drive Events.” These events allowed for more advanced layouts as well as allowing the very diverse com munity of buggy fans to interact with one another. From hardcore racers, to the more relaxed Cross County Racers, to even the casual buggy drivers. They all come together to share in the diversity of their beloved vehicle and to experience a few examples of types that would rarely be able to find elsewhere, if at all. Even with the vehicles locked down most of the week this never slows the tide of people passing through to read the detailed history of each buggy. From new comers riding on the coat tails of a tour, to older members seeing what they might not have learned about before, to the wandering traveler simply investigating the strange glass domed structure standing out on this desert ridge. The There Buggy Museum is located in www.There.com Stephen L Zack |
