| There Games Stadium Screenshots: See attached JPEG's (I am sending a small 6mb video as a different message which shows the opening ceremonies however it is in WMV format that is the most popular format for use in this world as all members can view it) Description of your public space and why it promotes public and civic engagement: The There games was month long series of competitions (both physical and mental) which divided the members of There into teams based on the color of their name tags. The events started in August and ended in September of this year. The There Games were sponsored by there but the events were all member run and organized. The stadium was the gathering point for the community. More Thereians showed up at the There Games stadium for the opening event than for any other event in the history of There! The momentum carried over into a bunt full of competition and the There staff have already committed to doing more There Games in the future! I designed the stadium walls to match other objects already in There. There had designed a construction set back in 2003 with Roman architecture as the basis so I used elements of that and other. It seemed a good way to encourage other members of There to build their own surrounding structures which would match is form and style. Quite a few members did make their own homes around the stadium during the There Games, but with the ending of the games these structures have vanished from in world. It costs virtual currency to keep objects in place for any length of time in There. The banners hanging down from the walls represent the 16 name tag color teams. The stadium also contain raised viewing platforms and seating areas on a top level accessible through a doorway in each of the four entrances. The large animated fountain structure represent a Thereain carrying the weight of the There world (which is a globe) on their shoulders, ala Atlas. The worlds There games are animated and circle the globe endlessly. Below colored water jets shoot out the There logo colors in a hypnotic pattern. One fountain is located outside each of the four entrances to the stadium. Other members designed and donated other objects to the project. They include the flags outside the entrances, The roman column group seating arrangements, a giant letter T with a flame burning on top, and if you visit now you can see the winners platforms inside. The structure was recently selected by There as the second structure built by members to attain permanent in world status. During the closing events team winners received special winners jackets while other participants received participatory t-shirts at the stadium. A picture of one closing event is also attached.
