IT out of Class: Student - Student
No Image Available

Students love to work in teams, and they will do that when they go into practice. Various tools give them a chance to collaborate to educate each other. NYLS can do much more to empower students to teach each other. This will require some basic infrastructure (such as possession by all students of minimum hardware and software and ability to establish secure communications from any location outside the school).

Consider the following possibilities:

  1. Establishment of a student only discussion forum for every class (unless a faculty member disapproves) – allowing real time or asynchronous study groups among students who are not physically together.
  2. During their first year of study, all incoming students might be assigned to virtual “law firms that will participate as groups in various class-related exercises and that are encouraged to support each other in various ways.
  3. Requiring students to develop their own mind maps, flow charts, outlines and web sites collecting and arranging materials related to their courses.
